An Invitation to Be Part of a Living Portrait Project
One person. One portrait. One story.
Â
My name is Noel Jhinku, a photographer based in Dunedin, New Zealand.
Version78 is a portrait project that celebrates ordinary people and the extraordinary lives they live.
Each portrait creates an ever-growing collection of people from all walks of life. Every person already has a story worth preserving and I'd love to capture it.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Portrait sessions are short, relaxed, and conversational, usually taking place outdoors in natural light at a location that feels comfortable or is meaningful to you. Participation is completely voluntary, free of charge, and you will receive digital copies of the photos taken.
After the portrait, you'll be invited to answer a small number of questions. You choose how much, or how little, you'd like to share. This meeting should take approximately up to an hour of our time.
WHY THIS PROJECT EXISTS
We often walk past strangers without ever knowing the lives they've lived. Version78 is about slowing down long enough to notice. It's about preserving a moment in someone's life before it disappears into memory.
WHERE WILL THIS PROJECT BE PUBLISHED
With your permission, your portrait and story will join others on this project website. Your portrait will be identified by a sequential portrait number, and be added to a growing grid of faces and stories that will serve to inspire those who come across them.
BE PART OF VERSION78
If this project resonates with you, I'd love to photograph you, and the way your story has unfolded over the years, and where it may be heading. it deserves a place in this growing collection. Because every life leaves a mark. And every portrait becomes part of the story.
